Snap Inc. unveiled some innovative changes for its new AI-powered video generation tool, AR glasses, and redesigned the Snapchat app at its Snap Partner Summit on 17 September 2024.
Snap’s newsroom says, “This update aims to provide a wide range of new app updates to enhance the users’ viewing experience and help creators and publishers approach Snap marketing effectively.”
The Key announcements include a range of app updates on AR glasses, which are associated with the new Snap OS, Lens Studio AI features, and Snap Star Collab Studio. These fifth-generation spectacles have a dual system on a chip that features two Snapdragon processors. The Snap OS uses technology like Liquid Crystal on Silicon, operated through voice and hand movements.
First, Snap announced its update to the user interface to help simplify user engagement. This update changes the stories of your friends and followers to the top of the inbox, similar to Instagram, so users can easily navigate all stories in one place. This also enables users to access the Snap map through the lower middle of the screen.
Snap also enhanced its AI capabilities by leveraging the most powerful language models by redesigning Lens Studio 5.0 to build more advanced lenses. This upgrade allowed developers to manage their projects and spectacles easily. Snapchat also upgraded its app to build a more simplified version by testing it on Snapchat users from all over the world.

With all the upgrades, Snapchat introduced a new AI video generation tool to help creators and sponsors produce videos through text commands. However, this AI tool is not easily accessible to all Snapchat users. Snapchat enhanced its capabilities by upgrading an AI assistant, My AI, to explain difficult images quickly. This tool helps translate images to break down communication barriers for smooth connection.
Snap is also introducing a new My Selfie feature for premium version users. This feature makes it easy for them to enhance and edit their images with AI-powered lenses. These lenses allow users to see their future appearances, including those of their friends and family, for more creative expressions.
Along with these app updates, Snap also improves users’ privacy. By protecting their privacies, Snap helps ensure the privacy of users under 17 so they can safely handle their personal or public accounts. These users have complete control over their profiles, metrics, and other visibility to simplify their interactions.
Snapchat will also introduce new features, such as a lip-syncing lens, so users can snap lips to various tracks from its sounds library. They also upgraded their beauty best friend lens with generative AI that allows users to access more personalized beauty filters.
A new initiative designed to help users under 16 personalize a safe experience to help creators produce content and build a community around them. Another new feature, Snap Star Collab Studio, is designed to help collaborators build partnership opportunities with content creators and brands. These new features allow creators to share metrics and insights with partners for better engagement.
So, as this app continues to evolve, they discover new features and opportunities to help deliver a good user experience, expand opportunities, and build a supportive community.
