Academy for Educational Development History:
Academy for Educational Development was founded in 1961 to provide higher education in the United States. But later, after 40 years, they expand their focus into fields like supporting civil societies, health, social marketing, democratic environment, etc, in the U.S. and many other countries. Their programs aim to work into HIV/AIDS, instructional technology, leadership, and energy policy.
Moreover, AED has executed more than 250 programs in the U.S. and 167 different countries, including PEPFAR-funded programs with worldwide partnerships to strengthen societies and worldwide communities. They also establish programs to expand their network through voluntary counselling and specialized workplace programs to help federal departments. They also work to implement prevention programs and non-discriminatory policies that support workers.
Also, they comprise 23 centres divided into five that are handled by public-private partnerships.

Health and Nutritional Programs:
AED addresses the world health crises and discovers the threats that lead to disturbed health. They plan to solve these to improve people’s lives. They ensure people healthier futures by making and implementing health programs like:
- Ethiopia Child Survival Project:
AED established this project with partners and worked with the Federal Ministry of Health and regional health bureaus to achieve and maintain children’s health in Ethiopia. They also made this project to improve the lives and health of Ethiopian families. Academy for Educational Development also worked with the JSI team to implement nutritional programs to strengthen health policies for child survival and improve health services.
- Preventing the Medical Transmission of HIV:
This program primarily focuses on countries like Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Uganda by collecting data from USAID and John Snow, Inc. to ensure they are protected from infections. This program entailed components like advocacy and behavioural change. They develop such plans and actions to stop the need for unnecessary injections and use them just when needed.
- Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance Project:
This program is projected to maximize the nutritional impacts and secure food in countries like Ethiopia, Ghana, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Uganda. It is implemented by collecting funds from USAID and with other world partners. This program aims to assist technically by implementing and evaluating food and nutrition security policies in related programs for securing their health.

- Academy for Educational Development Orphan Support Pack:
AED launched this program to support orphans and provide them with the necessary facilities and services. This program assists AIDS orphans under age five. Their support pack includes a prepaid card for immunizations and preschooling fees, home visits, and caregiver support for one-year-old children. They also help to provide children with balls, school uniforms, handbooks, stationery, and educational materials for their development.
- Partnerships for Learning Undergraduate Studies Program:
The Academy for Educational Development provides a scholarship program for North African, Middle Eastern, and South Asian students to support them in their undergraduate studies.
